Ward 2 Council

I am a professional working mother of four. Married 25 years and a resident of Cuyahoga Falls for 22, our family has thrived in Cuyahoga Falls. We have two boys at the University of Akron and twin daughters who are seniors at Cuyahoga Falls High School (both recent CFHS Top Tigers). Part of what's made our lives great here is our community involvement and access to many great opportunities. For the last eight years we have been deeply involved with the Instrumental Music Program (IMP) for Cuyahoga Falls City Schools. Serving on the board for four years and coordinating volunteer chaperones for the Marching Tiger Band has been the pinnacle of my experience with IMP. In various capacities my entire family has been involved annually with the Cuyahoga Falls Relay for Life event benefiting American Cancer Society. I've had the honor of serving on the Event Leadership Committee as well as being Captain for Team Fortis. Our family has raised funds and awareness for the Multiple Sclerosis Society through participation in various cycling events and for Alzheimer Association's Longest Day event. Our children have benefited greatly from being in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Jake and Noah both achieved the rank of Eagle, while Margie and Katy have both earned the Girl Scouts' Silver Award. The girls are currently working on their Gold awards AND have recently joined Scouts BSA with hopes of achieving the rank of Eagle along with their brothers! It's been extremely gratifying to volunteer as parents and leaders in both groups.

As our kids have reached, and are reaching adulthood, I'm ready to embrace new challenges. It's been amazing to see the transformation in Cuyahoga Falls, with the opening of Front Street and Portage Crossing being the most visible in increasing economic growth, entrepreneurship, and small business. But there is also all the initiatives being taken to reduce our carbon footprint, increase public art, preserve historic neighborhoods, and provide a greater range of activities for families and children while maintaining a high level of safety and security. These are the things that not only make Cuyahoga Falls a great place to live, but also a great place to VISIT. One of my goals for being on City Council is to support these and other initiatives that would continue to impact our city in this positive direction. My other goal is to be the voice for Ward 2. I have promised to be accessible and responsive when my neighbors reach out with their concerns. Getting to know them and feeling their support while campaigning has been a wonderful and humbling experience. Finally, my desire to secure Ward 2's seat on City Council is to expand on my community involvement. I've never run for public office and don't consider myself a politician. I simply have a strong desire to be even more involved in the community where I live, where I work, and where we've raised our family - which is, without question, my proudest achievement of all.

It's truly an honor to be the Democratic choice for Ward 2 on the November 5th ballot. Many thanks for your consideration and support.
